Cortana voice assistant for Android is available for public beta testing – Ferra

Microsoft has opened a public beta-testing firm voice assistant for devices based on operating system Android. At this point in the testing can take part people from the United States. The plans to further expand the geography of availability. To become a beta tester, you have to leave the application on the following link.

Recall, Microsoft in May, officially confirmed plans to release Cortana voice assistant for mobile devices “enemy” platforms – Android and iOS. Both operating systems have to get a separate application, much like with the implementation on Windows Phone is now. It was planned that Cortana for Android will be available in late June, and for the iPhone and iPad – closer to the end of the year.

Some of the features available in Cortana Windows Phone, does not work on Android and iPhone. Some features require access to the system. Currently in iOS and Android is not possible, and applications for these platforms Cortana N switching device settings, discovery of applications and the like. For Voice Activated Assistant (Hey Cortana, «Hello, Cortana!») Require special integration with a microphone device, so this feature is also only available on Windows Phone phones and computers with Windows.
