Nokia returns to smartphones and tablets on Android – Ferra

Nokia has issued a formal response to the question that worries many today in connection with the announcement of the sale of Microsoft unit dedicated to entry level phones


According to the legendary Finnish company, the Nokia brand, really , returned to the international market for mobile phones and tablets. This new smartphones and tablets will be based on Android operating system.

Remember, today Microsoft announced an agreement with FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of the Foxconn, and HMD Global for the sale of assets associated with the entry-level phones. We are talking about simple phones, not smartphones.

At the same time Nokia announced a strategic licensing agreement with HMD Global with respect to intellectual property and brand, in which the HMD Global will be able to create phones and next-generation tablets under the brand Nokia over the next ten years.

HMD Global is a new company located in Finland and founded specifically for independent work on the phones, smartphones and tablets under the Nokia brand. It is planned that will create a full HMD line phones, smartphones and tablets under the Nokia brand.
