Jide runs a multitasking console IO Remix for 99 $ on Android http://json.tv/ (press release) (Registration)

Jide Technology launches its second project based on Android. If last year we saw Remix Mini and it was a small, cheap box that you can use as your computer with the Remix OS, but this year the company launches the device, which it is positioning as the product of three in one: computer, games console and TV box.

the Device is called “Remix IO”, and it is expected to be released in March, but you can order one now, leaving a Deposit of 99 $ in the framework of a crowdfunding campaign.

Small box looks like a cross between a Roku and Intel NUC. It’s small, but has a lot of ports, including HDMI 2.0, VGA, Ethernet and four USB 2.0 ports and a headphone Jack of 3.5 mm and a slot for memory cards microSD up to 128 GB.

Under the hood, the system OCTA-core processor Rockchip RK3368 1.5 GHz cores ARM Cortex-A53 and graphics PowerVR SGX6110. Jide says that the system should be able to handle 4K video at 60 frames per second.

the System also has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of disk space. IO Remix will come with a new version of the OS Remix, which is already based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It has support for desktop environment, the taskbar and the ability to run applications in a window.

There is also a new TV mode. The transformable user interface, you can navigate the apps using the remote control that comes included with all models Remix IO or using the mouse and keyboard. Choosing the Gaming Edition version, you also get a game controller that can be used with TV mode.

Jide says that the Remix IO can also run applications designed for Android TV from Google that allows you to run standard apps for Android and apps for Android TV on the same device.
